Title: MakerLab Elite at RoboCup Rescue: Developing Future Innovators and Advancing STEM Education in Greece

Abstract: Rescue robots embody one of the most impactful applications of robotics: creating autonomous systems that can assist in disaster response and potentially save lives. Preparing students to tackle such challenges nurtures not only technical competence but also scientific methodology, creativity, and teamwork — essential qualities for the engineers and researchers of tomorrow. The RoboCup competition, with its long-term vision of advancing robotics and AI, provides a rigorous framework for such exploration. In the Rescue League, teams confront complex disaster-response scenarios modeled on NIST specifications, requiring innovation, scientific documentation, and critical evaluation. Within this context, the MakerLab Elite student teams achieved notable results at RoboCup 2025 in Salvador, Brazil: 2nd place worldwide in RCJ Rescue SuperTeam and 6th overall in RMRC. Ultimately, these efforts resonate beyond competition results: they demonstrate how educational robotics can inspire youth, push the limits of STEM education, and contribute to the global scientific community by expanding what is possible in human–robot collaboration.
